Celebrating Peace and Friendship
We invite Americans and Canadians to celebrate the peace and friendship of our two countries with a Handshake Across the Border at 11:00 AM CT, August 8th at the 40th parallel. Unlike any other place in the world, the Garden symbolizes the open and peaceful relationship between our nations, welcoming visitors from both sides—without barriers in the longest unfortified border in the world.
Celebrating Music and Songwriting
Join us for a special day dedicated to original music, songwriting, and community connection featuring North Dakota artists Peace Garden Collective and MoonCats. This event will include a free songwriting workshop at 10:00 AM CT, a free public concert (after gate admission), at 1:00 PM CT with Peace Garden Collective and 3:00 PM CT with MoonCats, welcoming all ages to experience the creative process firsthand. The program reflects the Garden’s mission of fostering peace through shared cultural experiences and celebrates its long-standing connection to music education through the International Music Camp.
Celebrating Pollinators
Enjoy an afternoon of hands-on, pollinator-focused activities designed to inspire curiosity, learning, and outdoor exploration. Activities will include a Pollinator Scavenger Hunt that encourages observation and discovery in the garden, an education session on pollinators by 2026 American Honey Princess Oceanna Escribano, Pollinator Sun Prints that blend art with science, and creative projects such as Origami Butterflies, Bird Feeder Craft Kits, and Mason Bee House building—each reinforcing the vital role pollinators play in our ecosystems. In addition, pollinator-themed books placed in our Story Boxes will provide opportunities for quiet learning and reflection throughout the Garden. Together, these interactive experiences foster environmental stewardship, support early learning, and create meaningful connections between visitors and the natural world.
