Natalie Cain

June 22nd & 23rd

H! I’m Natalie. I am a 500 Hour Yoga Instructor based in Wildrose, North Dakota. As the owner of Willow Tree Yoga, a somewhat traveling studio, I teach classes in several surrounding small-knit communities including my own. At the core of Willow Tree’s mission is my dedication to share the joy and health benefits of yoga. Beyond the physical postures, my passion extends to building community collaboration, shining a light on mental health, and being a place for all ages to come and experience the internal benefits yoga has to offer. In class you can expect fun music, accessible postures, and always some laughter! Off the mat, I love to hike, read, garden, and dance! I also love working with the children and elders of my community. Beyond all, my greatest joy comes from being a mom to two amazing kids who inspire me every single day.

Flow Yoga – This vinyasa based yoga class will combine breath with safe body movements to help stretch, strengthen, stabilize, and surrender yourself into greater comfort, balance, and control. We will move at a slightly  quick pace and work up a little sweat. The poses we find will build stamina and core support. Your instructor, Lindsay, will provide many varied options for poses too, allowing you to tailor the class to your body’s needs. Bringing a yoga mat is ideal, but class can be practiced on the grass if preferred. All ages and all experience levels are welcome, but one must be prepared to keep quiet attention and remain inaudible in order to not hinder the experience for fellow yogis.

Kendra Metcalfe

July 13th & 14th

My name is Kendra Metcalfe. I am 200-hour Certified Yoga Teacher. I started my yoga journey in 2018. I started going to several hot yoga classes at my local yoga/fitness studio several times a week. Long story short, I fell in love with it. I quickly reaped the physical benefits of yoga, however realized that yoga was so much more than just doing the poses for me. Meditation wasn’t a popular word in my vocabulary starting out, and it was something I had learned and desired to know more about as my yoga journey continued.

At almost one year of practicing yoga on my own, I decided to take the leap and enroll in Camp Utopia’s Yoga Teacher Training in Minot, ND. I quickly realized that the poses is just a sliver of what yoga actually is. To me, yoga is a lifestyle that can be applied to pretty much any aspect of life. I also learned the value of strength over stretch. More often times than not, we describe yoga with words such as stretching and flexibility, yet very little about the strength and stamina one gains from it as well. I believe the importance of building strength as it helps keep the body free of pain.

My goal as a yoga instructor is to help individuals find movement in their body so they can live their life to their highest potential. I believe it is important to sync and connect all three parts of well-being: mind, body, and spirit. Yoga is for everyone and can be incorporated into every type of lifestyle.

Kim Hobbs, owner of Downtown Yoga Fargo and lead teacher of Peaceful Warrior Yoga School’s training courses, began practicing yoga 13 years ago. From then on, she has explored the vast tradition of yoga with experienced teachers and began sharing the practice with others as a teacher herself in 2018. Kim has over 500 hours of training and over 4,000 hours of teaching experience, and when she is not teaching, she and her husband are living their practice in daily life. Yoga doesn’t make life easy, but it makes it easier to live life, and that has been Kim’s guiding light since her journey began. In Kim’s classes, you can expect to learn not only yoga asana, but also history, Ayurveda, philosophy, pranayama, and so much more as the teachings of yoga stretch far and wide. Yoga is for everyone, and Kim gives space for her students to explore a variety of practices so that they may discover what serves them best at the time and in the future. Kim applies the teachings of yoga to everyday living, and she encourages her students to look and find the practice of yoga everywhere they go- from standing over the sink doing dishes to sitting in meditation. Terra Scharnowske

July 27th & 28th

Terra’s passion for yoga started after her first yoga class, over 15 years ago. It was the sense of calm and wholeness she felt after class that made an impact and kept bringing her back. As someone who is curious by nature and always wanting to learn more, just going to classes wasn’t enough. She began to explore the aspects of yoga that go beyond the physical practice. With what she has learned and practiced over the years, she has experienced a greater sense of self and well-being. As a Registered Nurse by trade, she knows how beneficial this can be for all who practice. In 2018 she completed her 200hr yoga teacher training with Transitions Yoga to learn how to share these ‘on and off the mat’ practices with others. In class it is her priority to create a safe environment and yoga practice for all students to connect with themselves like she has been able to do.

Terra has her E-RYT200, RYT500 and RPYT.  She currently teaches at Transitions Yoga  based in Bismarck. Transitions is an inclusive studio that offers a wide range of offerings and is a regional Yoga School for others to learn to teach. She also provides yoga to the community through her own business, Nomadic Winds Yoga.   Outside of teaching yoga she is a wife, mom and enjoys hiking, snowboarding and gardening.
