Weiming Zhoa, a plein air painter, will be painting at the Gala and one of his paintings will be auctioned off live this evening!  Weiming, a celebrated artist based in Brandon, MB, has gained recognition for his exquisite plein air paintings that beautifully capture the essence of Brandon and Western Manitoba.  Having arrived in Brandon as an international student in 1991, Zhao went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Brandon University three decades ago. His dedication to his craft was honored in 2024 when BU awarded him with a Doctor of Literature degree during their Convocation ceremony.

Since 2003, Zhao has committed himself to completing a daily painting, resulting in an impressive collection of over 7,000 vibrant depictions of local scenes and landmarks.  His artist talents have garnered widespread praise and attention, leading to numerous solo exhibitions and inclusion in prestigious collections both in Canada and abroad.
